Gabriel Avendaño, founder of Cycofix offers a unique mobile concept that blends professional cycle repairs with high-quality coffee served from a van. Originally from Venezuela, he migrated to England in 2015 seeking peace, opportunity, and growth. His passion for cycling began not much earlier: in Venezuela he raced mountain bikes at a semi-professional level, supported by two sponsors, Benotto and Scott. Working with Scott gave him hands-on experience in bike mechanics, skills that became the foundation of his career at Cycofix. During his first spring in London, while cycling through Richmond Park, he witnessed two muddy riders struggling with a broken bike in the rain. At that moment, he imagined a place where cyclists could fix their bikes whilst enjoying a comforting coffee, a welcoming hub for riders and the wider community. That vision became the seed of Cycofix!
Experience & Expertise
Over the years, he has honed his skills working in renowned bike shops including Evans Cycles, James, Giant Sheffield, and Triuk. These experiences have contributed to his technical knowledge, and an understanding of what cyclists truly need: reliable service, convenience, and a friendly environment.
Growth & Community Impact
Since spring 2024, Cycofix has operated full-time in Shireoaks, Worksop, by the canal near the Old Station pub house. Four days a week, cyclists are welcome, as well as locals, and visitors, providing doorstep repairs, event support, and a space where everyone feels part of a community, whether they arrive muddy, with their dog, or simply in need of a break!
Future Vision
Looking ahead to 2026, Cycofix will expand into guided cycling tours across England’s most iconic routes. Partnering with Halcyon Cycling Holidays, we will provide mechanical, logistical, and nutritional support to groups from day one, creating unforgettable cycling experiences.
The name Cycofix combines three simple words Cycle, Coffee, Fix reflecting the essence of the business. Our motto is clear and true to the mission:
“Coffee on the go, repair on the spot!”
